Foodie Pen Pal

How did I not know this was a thing?

Basically, Foodie PenPals is something that Lindsay at the Lean Green Bean runs.  All you have to do is sign up, and you get a box of delicious food!  Of course, it's only fair that you send a box of food to someone else.

So when I learned about this, I realized, I like buying people presents.  I like getting presents.  And I love food!

My foodie pen pal was Amy, and she sent me:

- Muesli
- Freeze Dried Edamame
- Popcorn
- Lemon pepper
- Licorice
- Crystal Light

You'll notice that the Licorice didn't even survive long enough for the picture.  Oops!

The lemon pepper is for the popcorn.  I never would have thought to put lemon pepper on popcorn, but now that I've tried it, I realized it's a perfect combination.

Thanks Amy!

To read about what everyone else sent, or to sign up for the March Foodie Pen Pal, go to February Foodie Pen Pals Reveal Day link party!

I sent a package to Athena at Fitness and Feta, you can check it out at her blog.

Portions

Have I talked about how hard portion control is for me?

Because it's really, really hard.

When I see food, I want to eat all of it.

What Does 200 Calories Look Like?

Some examples

200 Calories of Celery

200 Calories of Apples

200 Calories of Ketchup

200 Calories of Avocado

200 Calories of Corn Bran Cereal

200 Calories of Glazed Doughnut

200 Calories of Splenda Artifical Sweetener

Check out the whole post, it's fascinating.

MiniVaction

As of February 14, Matt and I have been together for 10 years.  A decade.  Over a third of my life.

I'd say that deserves a celebration.

Plus, after spending what felt like all our free time on the house, we needed a vacation.  I don't know about you, but I find being outside to be vital to my mental health.

I'd love to spend a lot of time talking about how to stay on plan while on vacation.  But I'm done tracking, and I'm 42 points in the red.  But I'll be honest, it was worth it.  So instead of a lecture on how good I am at WW, here are a bunch of pictures from Palm Springs.

3 Fun Facts

3 Fun Facts About My Pants

1. The red is a symbol for my undying love for the state of California, where it's warm enough to wear capris in February.

2. I bought them on clearance for $8 - so they're cheap AND stylish.  Two-fer.

and

drum roll please

3. They're a size 16 from the Gap.  Which is the same size I wore when I graduated from high school.

Happy February

New Years Resolutions Updates:

1. End the year lighter than I started it - so far, so good! I had a minor set back after a work trip, but overall, I'm down 6.6 pounds since Jan. 2.

2. Run a 10k - I'll be honest, I haven't really started working on this one.  I was all gung ho to get back into running when I got back from Anchorage, but running on a treadmill is just not my thing.  I still have 11 months, so this one is still possible.

February Goals:

1. Start and stay on the Hal Higdon Novice 10k program.

2. Read at least 1 book.

3. Finish painting my house.  It's been 2 months, this is getting ridiculous, I'm just stalling at this point.

4. Go on at least 1 hike.

5. Learn to spell February.  There's something about the U before the A that I just can't wrap my head around, and I always end up with a few extra Rs thrown in there.  It's one month a year when I feel like a total idiot every time I have to write the date.

February, February, February.
